James McGarvey brings over 20 years of accounting and finance expertise to dental practice owners, with the past 15 years exclusively focused on helping dental practices achieve sustainable profitability and operational excellence. His deep understanding of the dental industry’s unique financial landscape has made him a trusted advisor to practices ranging from ambitious startups to established multi-location groups.
Throughout his career in dentistry, James has guided practices through their most critical financial decisions and growth phases. He has provided CFO and COO leadership to over 40 practices, advised on the startup of more than 30 practices and facilitated the successful purchase or sale of an additional 25 practices. His hands-on leadership experience includes serving as co-founder and CFO/COO of both a pediatric dental group and a general dental practice group in North Carolina, giving him invaluable insight into the operational challenges that practice owners face daily.
James’s expertise extends far beyond traditional accounting. His ability to identify profit optimization opportunities, streamline operations, and develop strategic growth plans has helped countless practices work smarter, not harder, while significantly improving their bottom line.
James earned his BA in Economics from the University of Virginia and his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. This strong academic foundation, combined with his extensive real-world experience, enables him to provide both strategic vision and practical solutions to complex financial challenges.
